Volcanic (Basalt) stones are harvested from river beds in the west. These stones have been naturally smoothed by friction, sand and water over time. Basalt stones are used because they hold the heat longer and are highly mineralized. Benefits include opening energy channels, calming the mind, strengthening immunity, increasing circulation and detoxing the "total" body. One stroke of the hot rock is equivalent to five hand strokes of massage. For a chronic or acute problem, we use hand cut, polished marble stones. These are cold and kept stationary on the problem area. Depth of healing is deeper, without burning like ice and is especially good for chronic problems as well as acute inflammatory problems.
